📋What is the extraordinary regularization?

The 2026 extraordinary regularization is an exceptional measure put in place by the Spanish State from April 16 to June 30, 2026.

It allows some people in an irregular administrative situation to obtain a residence and work permit valid for one year.

This measure mainly concerns people who have been living in Spain for several months before the process was launched.

Once the application is accepted:

  • You can live legally in Spain
  • You can work anywhere in the country from the start of the procedure
  • Families in an irregular situation can regularize their status with their minor children or disabled adults.

👤Who can apply for regularization?

You can apply if you meet all of the following requirements:

1. You were already in Spain before January 1, 2026

You must be able to prove your presence in Spain before this date.

2. You have been living in Spain for at least 5 consecutive months at the time of application

You must show that you have stayed in Spain continuously.

This can be proven with documents such as:

3. You are currently in an irregular administrative situation

Or you applied for international protection before January 1, 2026.

4. You have no criminal record

You must provide a criminal record certificate from your country of origin and the countries where you have lived for the past 5 years.

This certificate must be legalized and translated. You do not need to provide your Spanish criminal record as the administration can access it.
